At Ruimsig Academy we focus on attributes and skills.
All of the above cast in Christian and ethical values and principles.
Cambridge Pathway is for students aged 5 to 19. Its wide range of subjects and flexibility gives schools the chance to shape the curriculum so that it is exciting and relevant for their own students.
Cambridge Pathway students have the chance to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to achieve at school, university and beyond.
The four stages lead seamlessly from primary to secondary and pre-university years. Each stage – Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary, Cambridge Upper secondary and Cambridge Advanced – builds on the learners’ development from the previous one, but can also be offered separately.
Five elements lie at the heart of a Cambridge education: international curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment, international recognition and global community.
Our consistent and structured environment allows a child to confidently and securely explore his new and challenging environment. They must LOVE to learn, and to do their “work”. Children are treated with respect and have clear and consistent limits. A child who is respected and taught discipline is more likely to respect and care for others, and practice self-discipline.
Christian Based Education – Our curriculum is based on Christian values. We want children to see God as their “other Daddy” who they can always ask for help, whenever they are feeling alone or scared. Every school day starts with a Bible Story, to instill in our children the morals and values as taught by the Bible and experience the wonders of God.
Arrival & Departure Times – School is open from 06h00 till 18h00. We have staff members on duty from 06h00 in the morning, and the teachers all start at 07h00. Your child should be at school latest 08h00 (3 years and under) and 07h30 (4-6 years) for him/her to have a chance to settle down before class starts.
Departure times are 14h00 for half-day kids and up to 18h00 for full-day kids. Teachers work different full days, and will be on duty until 18h00 and staff members until 17h00.
School Holidays – We are open all year, and do not close for school holidays, except for midterm breaks. During Government School Holidays, we follow a fantastic holiday program that the children love!
A stuctured academic programme starting at 07:30 to 13:00 prepare our toddlers for the exciting challenges of the Cambridge Curriculum. At approach to instil a lifelong love for learning.
Over and above our own modified and combined curriculum the following are included the school fee:
Ruimsig Academy teachers are highly qualified and dedicated. They approach teaching with a hands-on philosophy; and believe that every child has the potential to succeed. Foundation Phase also has the help of assistant teachers. Their role is to assist teachers with general classroom management; and help monitor student’s progress
What will students learn? – The programme develops the skills of research, analysis, evaluation, reflection, collaboration and communication. It strengthens the links across English as a first or second language, mathematics, science, which are the core of Cambridge International, combined with ICT.
Throughout the programme, teachers focus on formative feedback on the skills they want students to develop. When a Challenge is completed, teachers can discuss with students ‘what went well’ and how they can improve further, so that students can reflect on, and improve, their performance.
A Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Global Perspectives assessment is available at the end of the final year to assess learner performance. Students produce a team project that is used to assess how skills have developed throughout the programme. Teachers mark the assessment before they are moderated in Cambridge. Learners receive a statement of achievement at Gold, Silver or Bronze level and the school receives a feedback report.
The concept of a ‘Cambridge learner’ helps us communicate attributes we believe are important for learners in the modern world.
We recognise that a meaningful curriculum is more than a collection of subjects. Learners need to develop a set of academic skills, life skills and attitudes to be successful.
We encourage learners to become confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged:
Confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others
Responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others
Reflective as learners, developing their ability to learn
Innovative and equipped for new and future challenges
Engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference.
Cambridge Lower Secondary includes optional tests to help us assess your child’s development, compare individual students and class performance, and report progress to you and your child.
*Cambridge Lower Secondary completed during Grade 7 and Grade 8.
Even though integrated in our Phys Ed; Art; Music and Language Classes we elaborate on it in afternoons,
